New toy and weird Kirby

CG Dec 30, 2023

These past few weekends I had sickness therefore I couldn't learn any sort of creative stuff. So this week I managed to waste my money (again) on an app called Nomad Sculpt. It's available on App Store for around $15 and I believe it's also available on Android Play Store as well.

Nomad Sculpt - Apps on Google Play
Sculpt, paint and create in 3D

This app is mainly for sculpting (it's in the name) and probably some 3D modelling. As someone who don't have any artistic skills and still learning, I decided to follow a tutorial on how to use the app. I found a good tutorial by Dave Reed where he enlisted his fiancee to do the sculpt because she is not an artist, and has never done 3D. That is a pretty good approach since he will teach from the perspective of a beginner. I finished the tutorial and it's a very good introduction to Nomad Scuplt and basic sculpting. Here is the video if you are interested:

The video is pretty easy to follow since the pace is not too fast, but you might want to pause here and there to catch up especially when you have never done this before. The tone used by Dave is calm and the instruction is pretty clear, so you will not feeling pressured while trying to understand what he is trying to teach.

This is me following the tutorial on my small iPad Mini

The result is not perfect and acceptable for me as a total beginner in 3D. I'm pretty happy with the result.

Till then, see you again later 😄
